Join us for the Region 7 sponsored Lunch & Learn on "Race-related Fear, Anxiety, and Cultural Trauma in 2020!"

This webinar is open to the entire state!  Join NASW IN Region 7 for a Lunch & Learn on "Race-related Fear, Anxiety, and Cultural Trauma in 2020."  Presented by Virgil Gregory,Ph.D., MSCR, MSW, LCSW, LCAC, this webinar's objectives are:

  1. Synthesize social structures that collectively contribute to social and economic inequality in African Americans
  2. Comprehend differences between fear and anxiety in African Americans
  3. Define cultural trauma and its implications for social work practice
  4. Apply appropriate self-care in response to cultural trauma
  5. Comprehend internalized oppression
  6. Identify and apply micro and macro level social work interventions for addressing social and economic inequality at intrapersonal and structural levels, respectively

Dr. Gregory has a history of providing services as a clinical social worker using cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in the treatment of person who have mood, anxiety, psychotic, and substance use disorders. Dr. Gregory’s research focuses on the evaluation and dissemination of CBT for persons with opioid use disorder, affective disorders, and persons of African descent. Dr. Gregory's research places emphasis on translation to clinical social work practice. Dr. Gregory’s research currently consists of systematic reviews, meta-analyses, scale development/psychometrics, and clinical trials.

This will be a live online webinar, starting at noon. There is one CEH available to those who attend and complete the post-test and evaluation. This event is free for NASW members and $10 for non-members. Click here to register.

The Region 7 NASW-Indiana Support Group offers a safe place for support, sharing, networking, collaboration, and accountability for self-care activities.  The group is not meant as a substitute for supervision or therapy, but is open to any NASW member who believes they can benefit from mutual professional support.  The group is open-ended with standard ground rules related to confidentiality and group norms.
