This webinar is open to the entire state! Join NASW IN Region 9 during our July continuing education event, Creating a Climate of Culturally Competent Care for Military and Veteran Populations, on Wednesday, July 8th! William "Bill" Little MSW, LCSW will discuss:

  • The primary identifying factors of military and veteran populations. Who are veterans, and what does it mean to be a veteran? What does it mean to serve?
  • Needs and barriers to service common with military personnel and veterans.
  • Collective characteristics of the military and veteran populations compared to civilian consumers/clients.
  • The significance of recognizing the military experience as a distinct culture.

Bill Little, MSW, LCSW, has over 22 years of combined military service between the Army and Army National Guard with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Bill completed his MSW degree from Indiana State University in 2016 and is currently the Director of Psychological Health for the 181st Intelligence Wing in Terre Haute, Indiana. Prior to his assignment with the Air National Guard he worked as a clinician and also as the Military Veteran Program Coordinator for Hamilton Center, the local Community Mental Health Center (CMHC). In this position, he provided individual, couples, and group mental health and addictions services using a variety of modalities primarily serving veterans, active duty military personnel, and their family members in the Wabash Valley.

Bill is the current President of the Wabash Valley Base Community Council and is a contributing team member on the Vigo County Veteran's Treatment Court. He is passionate about battling mental health stigma and advocating for quality mental health access for all military personnel and family members and he advocates for improved resources in the Wabash Valley. Bill presented a 1 credit hour special topics class in the spring to increase the level of military cultural competence for service providers in helping professions. Bill actively participates in initiatives to combat veteran homelessness and works tirelessly to end veteran and military suicide through several local initiatives.
